100 days after the fire at P. Nelis

On September 12, P. Nelis & zoon’s was hit by a devastating fire. A large part of the warehouse containing many flower bulbs was lost. Management and the team put their shoulders to the wheel and did not hang their heads. The hectic months that followed brought even more collective energy to the team and confirmed the very good relationship with the customers.

September and October are usually the most intense months for tulip bulb exporters, but for P. Nelis & zoon’s the fire added an extra exciting element to the delivery of tulip bulbs to cut tulip growers. Nevertheless, P. Nelis & zoon’s succeeded purchasing in largely the shortage of tulip bulbs caused by the fire elsewhere and processing, preparing and exporting them as usual.

100 days later, all operations and shipments will be performed as usual in any other year. Of course there are still challenges for the coming tulip bulb season. Those challenges lie in the physical warehouse. Renovations have to be scheduled and machines have to be bought and installed again. Despite these challenges, P. Nelis & zoon’s strives to continue processing and preparing the bulbs with the same reliable quality, care and efficiency as the company has come to expect.

The team and the management would like to thank involved customers and relations for their offer of help and also for the (mental) support to the team. The team members are also warmly thanked, because they currently really are figurative running the fire out of the slippers.
